Local charges are incurred by third parties as part of Beaches packages. These charges may have to be paid in differing amounts to one or two different locations. Beaches is required to collect $60 in local fees on behalf of Queensland Parks & Wildlife and other third parties for any Fraser Island package. This cost includes: a full tank of fuel, National Park Fees, vehicle access fees, comprehensive insurance, roll mats for comfort, ice on the first day, and luggage storage at Hervey Bay. Local charges incurred for any Whitsunday package are due to the sailing company hosting your chosen vessel and include all marine and national park fees required. These charges are subject to change and payable at time of check in. An $8.00 luggage storage fee is payable in Airlie Beach for the optional storage of luggage while sailing in the Whitsundays.

Check-ins after reception hours can occur in Beaches’ bars until midnight. Arriving even later than that? No problems – call Beaches in advance and we’ll provide you with the relevant security codes and directions to your room.

YES! Beaches love taking on backpacker staff and frequently have positions available. All positions are paid and include accommodation and some meals. Please refer to the Working at Beaches page under About Us.

All Beaches Safaris depart Beaches and drive to River Heads where you will catch the barge over to Fraser Island, arriving at Wangoolba Creek – right amongst the action! While on the barge, keep your eyes open for whales, dugong, turtles, and dolphins.

Accommodation cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to arrival will result in a cancellation fee equal to one (1) night’s accommodation charge per person cancelled. Fraser Safari cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to arrival will result in a cancellation fee of 100% of the retail cost of the Safari Tour per person cancelled. Cancellations made less than 21 days prior to arrival may result in complete forfeiture of some or all of the package components. Beaches Backpackers reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a Fraser Safari departure subject to unsafe weather conditions or passenger numbers. Cancellations due to unforseen weather conditions will incur a $25.00 administration fee unless rescheduled. Beaches reserve the right to substitute sailing vessels.
